To be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Organized by the Forum members 12th Air Force & Koen43.
Bring your Dodge vehicles and use the chance for some good gasoline talks as well as for a visit of the newly re-opened Museum or the famous Battery on the cliffs.

CU at the beaches, Joakim and RobN
About Pointe du Hoc
Pointe du Hoc was one of the strategic points in the German fortifications along the Normandy coast. The task of taking it fell to the 2nd Batalion of Rangers commanded by Colonel J E Rudder. Incredibly, the managed to scale the summit in just a few minutes despite the slippery surface, ropes made heavy by sea water and the enemy fire. The ferocious combat which followed on the lunar landscape potted by deep craters, was more deadly than the ascent itself. Another surprise awaited the Rangers when they discovered that the canons inside the bunkers were in fact wooden logs.
Today the site contains the remnants of the german artillery battery and bears testimony to the bitter combats of 6th & 7th June which cost the lives of 135 Rangers.
The Pointe du Hoc is one of the rare locations which vividly portray the violence of the Normandy Landings. Deeply scarred by combat, the site makes it easy to appreciate the extreme conditions under which the Rangers had to scale the cliff face under German gun fire from above.

Well, you never know how the weather will be that close to the sea.Robby [WC51] wrote:Also here almost a fact that i will go with the dodge. My wife is open for the idea:)

But: last year we had only some rain on the way up and then when we returned home = the complete week in Normandy no rain and some very pretty days (incl. sunburn).
So hopefully we will meet you at Pointe du Hoc then!

Re: DODGE GATHERING Normandy june 2014
Hello Folks,
actually we have no place for the "after Dodge Gathering dinner".
Depending on the weather and amount of vehicles we could drive together to a nearby Restaurant or Snack Bar.
Any ideas or recommendations?
My idea:
In 2013 was a Snack Bar with parking space located directly at the UNIVEM Camp at Vervilles sur Mer (beside the closed private D-Day Museum) on the Route de Grandcamp (Road D514), junction to Rue La Herode. That's only about 7 km from Pointe du Hoc
It's quite "basic" but gives you the opportunity to visit the UNIVEM Re-Enactors Camp "next door" (50 m distance).
Beside the Camp is the Mulberry Bridge as well - at other occasions it was possible to drive over the Bridge (for a fee?) and to make some nice pictures. But: No idea if (and when) this is possible in 2014.

You are very welcome!
I really hope that it's possible to make that way our first "sort of Pan-European WW2 Dodge Forum meeting" and to get a whole group of us the first time together with their vehicles in place.
I wish you and the others from the U.K. a safe trip to the beaches.

Very nicely put Joakim. There is something really wonderful about this thread when all you guys from different Countries can come together in joint commemorations.12th Air Force wrote:

Re: DODGE GATHERING Normandy june 2014
Hello Folks,
we will have maybe an upcoming Forum Member as well at Pointe du Hoc: I met last week a nice fellow from Bad Homburg (10 km north of Frankfurt) that owns a WC52 (just to make a long story short).
We had a lot of Gasoline talks and shared the Monuments Men Movie evening as well and the latest idea is that he is joining us on our trip to Normandy with his Dodge on a trailer.
I will keep you updated on this plan.

Hello Dodge owners from the Netherlands!
I got the information that the KTR Club offers it's members a transport solution for the D-Day week.
Transport will be from a pickup point in the NL to the beaches at a good price.
So if you are interested in please contact the Keep them Rolling club for further details:
